Premise
MAIMED is a post-apocalyptic socio-political futuristic horror jukebox musical comedy drama.
Set in a North America ravaged by a nuclear attack in the year 2012, MAIMED is the story of The City, the only civilization left on the Eastern seaboard, a totalitarian government run by a corporation that thinks it can do whatever it wants to whomever it wants, and people who oppose them.
Shusai Corporation helped to pick up the pieces when all seemed lost and a second Civil War was brewing. Eventually they owned everything. This included the media–and that's where their deceptions began in earnest. By 2065, Shusai had lucrative projects running that would produce things that could do everything from increase crop growth to decimating an entire species of plant in a manner of days. It was then that they played God; it was then that they started a series of endeavors that was so important and needed to be kept so far under wraps that they became known simply as "The Projects." The Projects were originally designed as prototypes that would be used to maximize the scant resources left in North America, but the practical-minded Shusai Corp. ensured that they could also be used for military purposes. This is all well and good and certainly to be expected from any truly megalomaniac super corporation–-with one problem. The Projects are genetically engineered and mechanically modified human children.
All this tyrannical behavior and repression over the years has earned Shusai quite a few enemies, and some of them got brave enough to fight back. These people formed a group nicknamed the Rhythm Revolution, a moniker that stems from the nicknames they derive from the music Shusai has long since tried to repress. They first appeared in 2031, a revival of a failed uprising in 2022 that was planned and hidden with far more care. Their main base is Chaos Radio, a converted townhouse with a very modified basement. Pirate radio broadcasts sent by a faceless DJ Ei go out on the airwaves daily, communicating to the Rebels in quite an efficient manner. Since radios are, by this time, an obsolete medium, they go undetected.
It is now 2075, and while the public is still in the dark, the Revolution has learned of the Projects and been trying to find a way to get to them for almost year. The Projects are now ten years old; their hormones are beginning the long journey towards puberty, and something is going wrong. The machinery that makes up part of the brain of first of their kin, codenamed E.V.A., has been partially damaged by these hormones. A short caused by that damage has allowed her to see what she is-and inadvertantly transmit that awful truth to her brothers and sisters. As our story begins, the Revolution frees her from Shusai's grasp. Sabotage, rescues, raids, and an all-out war in the streets are ahead for the inhabitants of the City, and no one yet knows who or what will be left when all is said and done.
